Whew! It's been a big day here. First the high water (talk of the town) and now a black bear cub came ashore - in the middle of town. He climbed a tree and looked about as pathetic as an animal can until, finally, law enforcement held back the crowd long enough to give him an escape route. It was actually quite dramatic as he emerged soaking wet and his mamma bear was on the other side of the river (upstream about 500 yards) in Yellowstone National Park while he was perched in the top of a small tree just outside the Subway sandwich shop. We saw many neighbors and friends (word spreads fast in a small town). In the absence of a movie theatre, this definately passes for Gardiner entertainment!
